Opportunity for Independence (OFI) was incorporated in 1991 when its founder rented a home in San Rafael, hired one other staff person, and provided residential service and supports to four gentlemen with developmental disabilities who had previously resided in California's Developmental Centers.
Over the course of the next decade, OFI developed five additional residential and vocational programs for hundreds of adults with developmental and other cognitive disabilities throughout Marin County.
Today, we stand by a philosophy to continue developing individualized programs that improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. We are committed to creating opportunities that assure a dignified lifestyle, access to the full range of natural supports provided by the community, and the freedom to express individual potential and values.
